Outside the Big Red Church

We are persons called to follow in the way of Jesus Christ. One thing that is obvious, when reading through the Gospels, is that Jesus did not teach in a temple. He walked about and met people in various places. Sometimes in the streets and sometimes in the countryside. In this, Jesus sets an example for us. Our faith is not limited to Sunday mornings at the Big Red Church. We carry that faith every day and wherever we go. Always ready to share our faith experience with others met along our way. This is what it truly means to be a follower of Jesus.

Our video presents various persons from the Big Red Church sharing their gifts and abilities. Each brings Grace into our lives by their dedication to service in the way of God. We, all of us together, have one vision and one purpose. That being the restoration of health and happiness to all peoples and the wounded creation of God.

Here are our various contributions:

And, here are the scripture lessons in which the video is rooted:

Psalm 107:1-3, 28-31 - O give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; for his steadfast love endures forever. Let the redeemed of the LORD say so, those he redeemed from trouble and gathered in from the lands, from the east and from the west, from the north and from the south. They cried to the LORD in their trouble, and he brought them out from their distress; he made the storm be still, and the waves of the sea were hushed. Then they were glad because they had quiet, and he brought them to their desired haven. Let them thank the LORD for his steadfast love, for his wonderful works to humankind.

2 Corinthians 6:1-2, 11-13 - As we work together with him, we urge you also not to accept the grace of God in vain. For he says, "At an acceptable time I have listened to you, and on a day of salvation I have helped you." See, now is the acceptable time; see, now is the day of salvation! We have spoken frankly to you Corinthians; our heart is wide open to you. There is no restriction in our affections, but only in yours. In return--I speak as to children--open wide your hearts also.

Mark 4:35-41 - On that day, when evening had come, he said to them, "Let us go across to the other side." And leaving the crowd behind, they took him with them in the boat, just as he was. Other boats were with him. A great windstorm arose, and the waves beat into the boat, so that the boat was already being swamped. But he was in the stern, asleep on the cushion; and they woke him up and said to him, "Teacher, do you not care that we are perishing?" He woke up and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, "Peace! Be still!" Then the wind ceased, and there was a dead calm. He said to them, "Why are you afraid? Have you still no faith?" And they were filled with great awe and said to one another, "Who then is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?"
