Happy Mother's Day

Every single one of us was formed in a mother's womb. It is where we began the journey of life on which we now travel. For most of us mother was the primary influence in the formation of our character. In her presence we learned the basic lessons of life. I say this knowing that sometimes the mother child relationship does not go well. This can leave a child insecure and anxious.

It was good to gather in the Big Red Church on Saturday morning to prepare the video below. The Called to Be Band sang songs to inspire and encourage anyone who takes time to listen. While a video is not quite the same as an in person gathering, it does allow us to share the spirit of God. Hopefully that living spirit will touch your heart and mind in a good way.

We would be very pleased to hear any comment or question you may send our way. Your perspective may be helpful as we look for effective ways in which to communicate the grace of God.

Here are the texts in which the songs and my message are rooted:

John 14:1-6 - "Do not let your hearts be troubled. Believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father's house there are many dwelling places. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, so that where I am, there you may be also. And you know the way to the place where I am going." Thomas said to him, "Lord, we do not know where you are going. How can we know the way?" Jesus said to him, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

1 Peter 2:2-6 - Like newborn infants, long for the pure, spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow into salvation - if indeed you have tasted that the Lord is good. Come to him, a living stone, though rejected by mortals yet chosen and precious in God's sight, and like living stones, let yourselves be built into a spiritual house, to be a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. For it stands in scripture: "See, I am laying in Zion a stone, a cornerstone chosen and precious; and whoever believes in him will not be put to shame."

Psalm 31:1-5 - In you, O LORD, I seek refuge; do not let me ever be put to shame; in your righteousness deliver me. Incline your ear to me; rescue me speedily. Be a rock of refuge for me, a strong fortress to save me. You are indeed my rock and my fortress; for your name's sake lead me and guide me, take me out of the net that is hidden for me, for you are my refuge. Into your hand I commit my spirit; you have redeemed me, O LORD, faithful God.
