Good Friday

I have prepared a short video reflection on the crucifixion of Jesus. This includes a reading from the gospel of John and a song called "Beneath the Cross of Jesus". My thoughts are intended to spark your own thinking about the meaning of Good Friday.

In the most basic sense, the crucifixion of Jesus is a story about the struggle between the power of darkness and the power of light. It seems that the darkness has won the victory and the light of God is extinguished. Knowing how the story unfolds we are aware that the death of Jesus is not the last word.

In three days we will discover that darkness is not able to extinguish the light of God. This discovery opens our way into the future without fear. As it is written: "Yea though I walk through the valley of death's dark shadow I will not be afraid."
