"Are You Listening"

I would like to begin by saying that you are all in my prayers. The times are deeply challenging. Turning to hear what the spirit of God is saying offers us a remedy for the anxiety and fear caused by the present global situation. Persons in all places are faced with the uncertainty regarding the duration and effects of the viral infection spreading through our populations. As persons of faith we know that the grace of God will sustain and guide us as we move forward.

Meeting at the Big Red Church on Saturday the band and I decided to suspend all in persons services. This will be in effect until we hear our governments let us know that the danger has moved out of the red zone. Hopefully this will not take a very long time. Even so, we will be wise to prepare ourselves and our families for the possibility of long term shut downs.

The band and I will meet on Saturdays to prepare a video service for you. This Saturday we focused on the theme of hearing God's word. That word presented as light as the times darken. That light is inside each one of us and all of us together. Hopefully you will let your little light shine in your corner of the world.

Here is the video recording of our songs and stories:

This are the texts on which our service is based:

Psalm 133 - How very good and pleasant it is when kindred live together in unity! It is like the precious oil on the head, running down upon the beard, on the beard of Aaron, running down over the collar of his robes. It is like the dew of Hermon, which falls on the mountains of Zion. For there the Lord ordained his blessing, life forevermore.

1 Kings 19:11-13 - He said, “Go out and stand on the mountain before the Lord, for the Lord is about to pass by.” Now there was a great wind, so strong that it was splitting mountains and breaking rocks in pieces before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind; and after the wind an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake; and after the earthquake a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire; and after the fire a sound of sheer silence. When Elijah heard it, he wrapped his face in his mantle and went out and stood at the entrance of the cave. Then there came a voice to him that said, “What are you doing here, Elijah?”

Mark 4:2-9 - He began to teach them many things in parables, and in his teaching he said to them: “Listen! A sower went out to sow. And as he sowed, some seed fell on the path, and the birds came and ate it up. Other seed fell on rocky ground, where it did not have much soil, and it sprang up quickly, since it had no depth of soil. And when the sun rose, it was scorched; and since it had no root, it withered away. Other seed fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up and choked it, and it yielded no grain. Other seed fell into good soil and brought forth grain, growing up and increasing and yielding thirty and sixty and a hundredfold.” And he said, “Let anyone with ears to hear listen!”
